Humming

No one hums anymore.
Growing up, I used to hear my grandparents, and other people their age, humming. The would hum while working. They would hum while rocking a baby. The would hum while doing nothing. But today you rarely hear anyone hum. In fact I just exhausted a half hour trying to find audio or video of people humming to post here.

I think it has to do with having portable media devices. And I am not just speaking of iPods. The lost of humming started with radio being everywhere - cars, jam boxes, walkmans. And TV- everywhere you go there is a TV on. Humming was used to amused and entertain one's self. It also kept old songs alive. And I don't know about you, but if you hum for a while there is a really calming feeling that comes over you.

So. I have decided to hum more. I will turn off the radio and TV and hum.
