Louisiana Legislators Neuter Governor Jindal & Give Themselves A Pay Raise

Well it seems that Louisiana Legislators are going to triple their pay. And the Governor "Baby Boy" Jindal will not veto the pay raise. Why? It seems that Speaker of the House Jim Tucker has treated "Baby Boy" Jindal with shutting down every one of his bills. Now this type of political strong arming is not new to Louisiana. It IS Louisiana. But the people of Louisiana elected Jindal to clean up Louisiana government. Hell, a lot of the legislators that are voting themselves a pay raise campaigned for Jindal. But what few realized is how little power one, young, person has against a culture - no scratch that - HERITAGE of corruption.

Legislators can't seem to get on the same page. Some say the pay raise is needed to get closer to the pay of other state legislators. Some say they need the pay raise because their part time job as a legislator (3 months a year) feels like a full time job and so the need to make $58,000 a year for it (never mind the median income in Louisiana is $34,000 a year.) And this is the best one: some say that by raising their pay it will allow more people who are poor to be able to be a state legislator. BULLSHIT!BULLSHIT!BULLSHIT!- have you known any poor person without influence to ever be elected to the Louisiana government?

I sure wish I could tell my boss that I will only work 3 months a year and that my pay will be tripled.

I voted for Jindal. I thought that he could do some good. But so far he has just shown to be the "boy-king" of Louisiana. His anti-corruption bills were watered down by the legislature. He has not been in Louisiana to converse with law makers during this, his first, legislative session: he says he is giving the law makers the space they need to do their job. And his "handlers" seem to keep away any person wanting contact with the "boy-king." And god forbid that you write bad of Jindal- his people will make sure you are cut off from all information. This reminds me of another "boy-king" that has managed to fuck up this country- George W. Bush.

This is all a new version of the same ol' shit.

Dear Louisiana Legislators,

and go to hell while you are at it.
Sincerely,
Lucius A. Fontenot

UPDATE 6/13:
Representatives voted for a watered down version of the proposed pay raise. This would only double their pay. As if it makes it better. The bill will go back to the Senate for approval. If approved it will make its way to the Governor desk for approval or veto (god willing).
